Elizabeth Darling

Elizabeth Darling not only had the dream, she has taken all of the steps to bring her to where she is today.  Living her dream as a physical therapist and athletic trainer.  In practice for 14 years with the desire to help people realize their full potential, she has developed a very unique set of skills and experience along The WAY.

She has been the medical provider for the past 15 years working with USA Gymnastics and serving as the Medical Director for the rhythmic gymnastics program.  She has traveled extensively with the National Team and has covered numerous World Championships.  During her experience she has developed a Physical Preparation Program.  This program is currently being used as a tool for assessment and sports performance enhancement nationally.

In addition to her work with USAG, she has also worked extensively with dancers including the Mercyhurst University Dance Department, the Joffrey Balley, Hubbard Street Dance Company, River North Dance Company, and the Broadway touring companies of Wicked, Movin’ Out, The Lion King and The Color Purple.

Elizabeth Darling, DPT, currently practicing with Keystone Physical Therapy and in collaboration with The WAY to Healthy Living, has just returned from a seven month assignment working as both a physical therapist and athletic trainer with the Chinese Women’s Olympic Volleyball Team.  Elizabeth is the first American Professional to be hired by the Chinese Volleyball Association.  The objective of her contribution in this position was to improve the health of the athletes and educate the team in western sports medicine and therapeutic modalities.  Overall her skills helped to prevent and reduce injuries through core stability programs as well as to improve the team’s overall world ranking as they prepare to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games.

Darling does not just work with high level athletes or sports performance.  As a physical therapist she oversees many programs in her local office including, but not limited to, sports medicine, breast cancer wellness, lymphedema treatment and overall wellness for individuals who have been diagnosed with or feel that they have limitations to living a quality life.  She is an orthopedic clinic specialist and a certified lymphedema therapist.  Her treatment approach is whole person and not just symptom focused.  She enjoys spending time with her patients and thoroughly investigating the source of their discomfort; developing a treatment program that is simple but functional and assisting in the success of their ability to achieve their goals along The WAY to Healthy Living.

In partnering with Selina Uglow and Sherri Crowl, The WAY to Healthy Living addresses the whole person seeking a better journey towards wellness by providing simple and functional solutions that address the Motivation, the Mental Component and the Movement along The WAY.
